View Full Version : First Animation Reel
lsanchez 03-28-2006, 09:04 PM Hello Everyone,
I just completed my first demo reel and would like some critiques. I think there some great work on this forum and would really appreciate any advice I can get. All the modeling, rigging, and animating was done by me.

I wasn't getting any responses so I compressed my quicktime movies a bit more so you guys don't have to wait too long. I'm really looking for some feedback.

Nice work! That chick in the black is sexy.
Overall this is impressive for a first reel.
In my personal opinion, I would make the shots a bit faster. For anyone viewing a lot of demos, their attention span doesn't last long. Think of clips that may last no longer than 3 or 4 secs. Of course this depends on what you're showing. If it is acting then you may need a 30 sec. or so clip, but if you are just showing off a model then keep it short and sweet.

Thanks for the comments. Ritchieste, I started puting this reel together about 5 months ago.
Very nice work! i think this is a good reel.... the only thing you should change is the timings... it could be faster.... you spent so mutch time showing repetitive things.... if this reel gets short, it will be a very very very nice reel... anyway, nice work, dude!

It is looking pretty good man. I think my only advice is to loosen up for animation a bit. On some of th shots the character seemed to hit a pose and bounce right into the next one. I also noticed on the woman that some of her poses looked a bit funky, and that her hips sort of moved in an odd way at some points during her walk.
Cheers for a first reel though!! Keep at it!

Really really good presentation and intro. I would say it's a bit long though. Keep your best parts and chuck the rest. For my own personal opinion I think that dubbing the voice for the dude was a bit cheesy. Good work
