View Full Version : Direct Skinning vs Indirect Skinning
What do most people use when dealing with a fairly high res poly or nurbs patch model?
By Indirect skinning i mean via a lower res wrap deformer in maya(not sure about other packages), and by direct skinning i mean by skinning and weighting the CV's / Vertexes directly to the joint rig.

When dealing with nurbs patches, I rock a lattice bind the old fashion way. A series of lattices, with different resolutions for the different parts of the body.
I recently got the gnomon skinning DVD and They ouline a way to use the wrap deformer. It's pretty similar, but the wrap is more intuitive, sice the shapes are closer to the final model. I haven't tried it yet.

Haven't seen the Gnomon DVD, is it anything like my tut?
