View Full Version : Random animated numbers
thatoneguy 03-27-2006, 10:33 PM I'm having a problem with combustion's number generator. I will create a number letter inside of a text object. As soon as I leave the number settings, and select another object I am seemingly disallowed from changing any settings. The number tab no longer returns when I select the "number" letter.
Is this just a bug in combustion where "numbers" are broken? Or am I just being an inexperienced idiot with Combustion's motion graphics tools?

I was apperantly being noobish in the absence of any real documentation on the subject.
In order to later modify a number generator, you do not select it from the "letters" hierarchy. You just have to put your cursor onto the "[#]" in the text editor, or else in the viewport place the text editing cursor in front of the first number of the number generator.
Now... if I could just figure out how to generate a number with a step smaller than 1... What's the point of giving me 5 decimal places if I can't make them anything except 1.00000 It seems like it should be super super simple, let me animate the value at 5 decimal places and just give me 5 decimal points of accuracy, it can do it with x,y position, scaling etc, why can't the "Value" key leave whole integers? Even the random number generator will generate 5 decimal floating numbers. It's like I'm arbitrarily being limited to minimum of "1" step.
I'm sure this must just be like trying to edit a number generator, something simple I just don't understand the correct "process" but right now I'm having to [#].[#] to get animatable decimals from a generator.
