View Full Version : 2D: Full Moon
Crash 12-23-2002, 11:21 PM OK guys here the idea I've came up with. This is going to be a xmas gift for my girlfriend. I just started and I've got about 12-18 hours to finish. The clouds need improving and there's going to be a tree, 2d or 3d I dunno yet. Give me your comments :wip: . Greetz

the first render of the tree for the scene... my time is ticking :wip: I hope I'll get this ready by christmas eve. One question guys, does any of you use 3dsmax3.11 and know his way around with the Unwrap tool. coz I think that without it I'm goig to have a really hard time texturing the tree properlly. If anybody could solve my problem then I would be ennormuslly greatful for any kind of help coz as I said I'm in a bit of a hurry :p . Greetz:beer:

Very moody !
good integration of both elements aswell !
only one crit : the tree looks a litlle "flat ' like it's stretching on one plane, but frankly it's hardly noticeable in the "complete" scene !
cheers !

Cabal: I was thinking more like a crow or sumthin but it would be 3d as well, so if anybody knows how to make a realistic crow, or at least knows some tutorials that could help then I would be greatfull. Cheers

a crow sounds great ! but honestly i doubt u need to make it photoreal : you only need to have a good outline and make use of your great shadow/light play!
good luck !

THX ckaos@om, I can't decide, coz with a 3d crow I would be able to make a short animation witch could look cool but on the other side it couuld look kinky too coz the whole background is 2d. For a still image a 2d crow sounds nice but I don't think I'm capeble of drawing a crow :p. So there's the dilema :) . Oh and I just wanted to sak you guys what would you think of a stone cliff with some dead grass on the bottom of the image ?? THX for your spiritual support :) . Greetz

a cliff on the left side of the picture would look nice.. especially with something cool at the edge of it ( I have no idea what :) )
about the dead grass... where would you put it?
the bottom of the picture doesn't include ground...
the picture turned out really really good... I liked it a lot !
but something looks weird with the wood texture of the tree...
can't put my finger on what's wrong, but it just doesn't look like wood
other than that! it rox! :buttrock:

you should, at the compositing, add more bleu to your image for night...
Right done!

I agree with your cliff idea. It needs something on the bottom so the tree does not look like its just hanging in space. I love the look and feel of this but think the tree needs just the slightest hint of details with some very faint lighting. Thats a pretty big, bright moon so you would see the tree fairly clearly. BUT I would not make the lighting appear as it might really appear, it would ruin the mood.
