Made just for fun, a concept assault rifle for a not so far future. I made it in 2 days, and want to try some materials like metal, kevlar and plastic. Any critics or coments are welcome :)

Hey Cesar, nice gun. Good practice for learning to paint different materials and surfaces. However on the actual design I have to say it kinda looks a little like most of the not to far future assault rifles I see out there especialy in games. Not that thats a bad thing just that its not very original.

Nice design... As a sometimes shooter of actual assault rifles, I would suggest that the safety/selector (to the rear of the trigger on the side of the receiver) should be recessed so that it couldn't accidentally be switched by clothing, twigs, etc. Also, a narrower section below it/above the grip would allow the selector to be more easily activated by the shooter's thumb. Small things in design, but very important in the field where being able to thumb the selector in a hurry can mean the difference between life and death.

I also would suggest a trigger guard ahead of the trigger since the off hand would be used to grip the curved section of this rifle and the rear edge of the off hand could accidentally hit the trigger (with disastrous results) when a user was running, tripped, etc.

Minor points -- a beautifully executed firearms design overall and a nice demonstration of your modeling skills.

Onikudaki: well i'm a gamer and i'm also working in the game industry, so i took some references from the industry and references with real weapons and mix it all together to make my own new riffle. More than trying to make something purely original (wich should be our target in this field) i focus myself more to make fit in the currents standards of reality or what's aviable now out there. Anyway, thanks for your words and taking the time :D

DuncanLong: THanks a lot for the technical reviews, i fire normal pistols a few years ago but i've never been able to fire an assult rifle in real life :S. I already made some corrections in the image from your coments, that will be in the final image later in my webpage... again, thanks a lot!
