View Full Version : C4 reading my footage as "Audio" files.....
vinnydakid 03-27-2006, 06:24 PM Hi there! I've got an unusual problem with this project I'm working on. I set up a Combustion file about a month ago and imported about twenty MPEG4 video files. I've been color correcting and compsiting them and everything's been fine this whole time. Now, for some odd reason, when I try to import another file (the same exact MPEG 4 files) Combustion won't recognize them and lists them only as "Audio Files". I initially thought that somehow the footage got corrupted, but when I started up a new Combustion file and tried to import them, it recognized them just fine. I reopened the file I've been working on and sure enough.... it won't recognize them.
Any idea what's going on here?

Really?? Nobody else out there has ever had this happen to them?!? Could it possibly be because I'm using HDV footage? Would that have anything to do with it?

I would almost guarantee you that is the source of your problems.
It took discreet until (I believe) version 3.0 of combustion to just support DV. Apperantly there were some license issues involved...
Wait was it DV, or AVI? I think it was DV, all I remember is, it was rediculous and it was a common file format. Combustion has only recently begun to accept a large variety of formats.
I wouldn't expect Combustion to work well with HDV for one reason. Interframe compression. HDV is going to be a difficult format for combustion to deal with because there are no unique and individual frames. Load up your footage in your NLE and export as an uncompressed Targa or PNG sequence.

Cool! I'll give that a try!
Thanks for responding!
