View Full Version : How to render Environmental Sky in Maya

I can't get any rendered image out of the environmental sky renering node in Maya 7.0
Is this a bug or I am doing something wrong?
Does any body have strugled with this?

Make sure that your env_sky node is connected to an image plane which is connected to the camera that you are using to render. Here is my basic workflow:

1. Create a (or use a pre-existing) camera node.
2. In the camera node's attribute editor, go to the "Environment" section and click "Create Image Plane"
3. In the image plane's attributes, find the attribute "Type" and change it from "Image File" to "Texture"
4a. Create a new env_sky or connect an existing one to the "Texture" slot.

Now, before others will post this remark, I might as well state it now. The best skies won't come from proceedural textures, but rather from real photos....probably the best-looking and cheapest (time wise) way to go.
