hi everyone,

Im finding trouble tryin to rig a simple film clapper board with arms and legs. The prob comes when tryin to animate the board (which conforms the body of the character), I want smooth deformations driven by the spine but Im not achievin the result I want. Basically the character structure is this:

Ive got 3 spine joints and one head joint, ive tried smoothing the geometry but it loses hard edges, which i need for the borders. Ive tried subdividing it but the deformations look as if its lowres. The character has also got a clavicle, but ive been thinkin lately if its necessary or not, tryin right now gettin rid of the clavicles and see if makes weightning easier. Ive also tried smoothing the inner polys, leaving the faces on the borders subdivided, but there are problems with the faces on the corners (tried tweakin the normals but it doesnt work).

Do I need more spine joints? shud i keep the character's body as a stiff board instead? Hope anyone can help asap im really running out of time with this project.

Thanks for the support

Id make it like a real clapper loader with arms and legs, i wouldnt try to make it deform. That might look odd. Id just parent the clapper to the loader, add some bones for the legs and arms and keep it simple!

Shoulder shrugs would be ... hmmm i dont know. But personally id animate those manurisms and nuances.
