Hi
Still in the middle of texturing this model, but i though i might post it up now for comments - all comments welcome as this is my first shot at a human figure. I will be adding a monster of some sort to wrap around her (for her to be knealing over). Then a background and ground (as i say its still early days) Model and texturing have taken 3 days so far!
Ill post up more soon.

Got a little bored with texturing - so im gunna put it off till ive finished the Scene - ive just added a creature and would like comments before i get too far:D - it still needs cleaning up on the legs and the texturing is just first stab.

I will be adding a background/landscape too.

anyway here it is so far

It's looking pretty good!

I know this sounds...well...obvious, but your lighting is a bit flat. The whole image feels deeply desaturated. Which is fine on one level, but the lighting needs some work.

Model looks pretty awsome.

This piece looks like alot of fun, I hope you are enjoing making it as much as we are looking at it. :D

i dont think the monster thingy looks nearly as good as the woman thingy, might want to work on it a bit more

she's looking fantastic, i can't find any mistakes

excellent job, but yeah, work on that... creature of yours... if u can make that maiden look that good, i know you can do better on the pet... keep it up

the woman`s very well done. drool is running down my face while writing this, but the creature makes the scene somehow funny. maybe you want to fix this.

Three days to model, rig and pose? From basic concept?? Damn - did you sleep at all?
As far as the creature goes - tongue sticking out? Don't get it - the mood you are trying to convey - she/it looks so serious, then a creature with a little tongue

Not much I'm gonna say bout the texturing - looks really good

do you have the models in da Vinci poses? Probably be better for checking out textures etc....

looks great . . . but i was just curious . . .

are you using poser or similar program as a starting point for your model at all?

if ya did it all by yerself forgive the offense for asking.

and then my question is, what software packages have you used so far to create this image?

PaulCarry

Youre right guys - im putting more work into the monster and removing the tongue, increasing the size of the eyes etc. But will be away now for a week so ill post more when i get back.

The model was hand built in Lightwave from the ground up (no Poser model)
I was originally just setting up a basic scene to hand paint the detail in Photoshop (to get a very painted feel)- but i got into it so much i though i'd carry on and do it all totally in Lightwave.

The light set up will change later when i put in the background scene (so will be asking advice on that later if you dont mind ).

Hey! That's awesome-- I love that big feather thingie on her head! Only thing is... her face? How big do you want your final pic to be? We might wanna zoom in a bit and see what's going on in there, fix up the head a bit.

Ok - Im back from my hols now - so ive done a bit more on the monster (as suggested) - just added a little detail and increased the size of the eyes. Im going to try some background scenery now. C&Cs welcome as always.

I like your concept. Remind me an old work (maybe 1997) of Boris vallejo.
Good:applause:
Can you post a basic pose of the "girl"?

woah that's hot! Only thing I can suggest is that she should have a specially designed thong becase of that tail.

Raideen
12-31-2002, 05:27 PM
Man she is coming out very very very nice :buttrock:

This may be a dumb question but are you modeling her in her present pose or is she modeled in the Michaelanglo pose then rigged to be kneeling just curious.

Otherwise what's her phone number?

Ok, OK  I know ive gotta add some nipples. Ill do that soon and the thong idea is a good one so ill do that too - thanks guys.

Raideen - She's modeled in that pose im afraid - one day ill get around to trying it with rigging.

Ive been creating a few scenery bits - im not sure where they're going yet but heres one - a shrine kinda thing.

Ok, ive built a SCENE! I havnt got the lighting sorted out yet and i know there are a few bits i need to clean up. Im also going to put the statue in it somewhere. Then im going back to add more bits to the girl and clean up some errors and the textures. Im going to try puttong some feathers down her spine and add a more detailed thong.

Here it is so far:

Hey, great job, man...high quality work in such a short time...congrats! Only things I thought I might suggest (if you don't mind) is adding a bit more detail to the anatomy around her neck (sternocleidomastoids) & clavicles. Sounds like your final render may be able to get around this...if so...disregard. And the other thing is showing the vertebras down her spine going into her tail (you may be able to achieve that through your maps). Just thought some detail work in her tail could help. Keep updating...it's gonna be great.

Very nice. If that it just a "first stab" at texturing the creature well done, the tail section is excellent. I really like the integration of the maidens tail into her spine. How many days total on this? 3 or 4 you said? Very fast. Post more with subtle lighting tweaks!

Ive cleaned up and lightened up the background now and produced a final render. Thanks Jeff Unay for your input your quite right - it really could do with more work but i think ill take everything ive learned and put it into a fresh model. (this one was a very steep learning curve and i know there are lots of errors - but its been a lot of fun) Thanks to everyone who has helped me on this, i got some really great advice and ideas on this forum.

Heres a bigger render: (365k)
