I was wondering if anyone knew a way to randomly select geometry from a layer... I'll explain.

I'm doing a project where I need to do a sun study of a site about 1km x 1km. I got an autocad copy of all the building details and imported it into Rhino. What I want to do randomly select the curves on one layer and extrude them a certain height, then invert the selection and extrude the remaining curves to a similar height. That way the study will be visually much more appealing. I can't imagine this could be done but some sugestiong about how you guys would do it would be great.

im sure its not this simple but:

1.edit>select objects> by layer

and deselect your 2nd curves(or 2nd extrusions) and make the first a group

2.edit>select objects>by layer

and deselect the group ,this will leave the 2nd curves, then just group the 2nd curves

extrude the groups away!

btw i dont think there is a command for random you may hafto just randomly click curves or something.

Here you go.
Random Deselectio (http://www.reconstructivism.net/index.htm?scripts.htm)
rhino3sr4...works fine
tools/rhinoscript load/run ~(basically like loading installing a plugin)..
and it deselects by a percent.
