Hi there,

I'm trying to make a random color material in Xpresso. I got very close to get it but there's still something wrong.
First i added a Random node and set its output to Vector. Then i added a Range Mapper node and linked the Random output to its input.
Set the Range Mapper parameters to Vector and all input lower values to -1 and all input upper values to 1.
All the output lower values to 0 and all output upper values to 100 and set it to %.
So far so good.
I dragged my material into Xpresso and set its input to color and then connected the ouput of the Range Mapper to that input.

What happens is that my material color updates in the material editor and in the viewport but not in the render!
I added a Result node and set it to vector and the values are ok... and they are the same as in the material slot.
Oh, one other thing, the percentages in the material slot update but the material sphere doesn't.

Any clues??? What am i doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

I am no xpresso xpert, this is the 2nd thing i've done in xpresso... I have to say I can't wait to master it!...

I made a random node set it to real. output it to a universal translation node set it to color, then plugged that into the color r input on texture and did that 2 more times into blue and green channels and made sure each random node had a different seed and presto it worked...

i don;t know why it works in the editor but not in render to me I would write that off as a bug

In a preview and rendering, Constant and Random inputs seem to be ok into the color port of a material. I'm not sure, but setting of range mapper may have some problem (or bug). Try other nodes such as the Math node.
