View Full Version : Raytracing Antialiasing Global
Xilica 12-23-2002, 12:22 AM Hey,
I am trying to set the Raytrace to global for antialiasing, only problem is, in the Antialiasing Global option it is grayed out and I can't check the box to On. Anyone here know why it is grayed out? I am on 3ds max 5, by the way.

Here is a pic for ease:
Notice the bottom is grayed out.

Check under the Rendering menu for the Raytraced Settings and then turn on one of the options for antiailasing.

Alright here it is:
Edit: It is a bulllet and I am very new to 3ds max 5. Been doing it for about 2 months and now I have decided to get serious.

Use a raytrace map in the reflection slot, and put on the material supersampling instead of the raytrace antialiasing. It's much faster most of the time, and you have much more control.

Xilica,
This looks like a decent start, but I have some questions, suggestions.
First, you don't have the bulllet in an environment so raytracing is a waste of time.
It looks like you have a reflection map on your metals, it would be better to turn on Supersampling on the two materails. Then turn off the raytraced reflections.
Your objects should look much better that way and supersampling the materal should be much faster than raytracing the reflection.
Also, the "rim" of the bullet looks too deep and the point of the bullet looks too sharp. A great start, but try looking for some reference to help with the details.
Good job.
