Hi!
I'm trying to set up our Mental Ray renderfarm - but without success. After various "hacks" (copy the three dlls into windows\system32 as mentioned here in another thread) the spm and the ray service are running. spmstat -KD tells me that there is one stand alone license available. If I start ray.exe manually it works fine (it does nothing but it runs), but if I start a render job from maya (maya.rayhosts works fine) I get the following message in my script editor:
// Info: (mental ray) : loading startup file: C:/Programme/Alias/Maya7.0/mentalray/maya.rayrc
// mental ray for Maya: using rayhosts file C:/Dokumente und Einstellungen/friedl/Eigene Dateien/maya/7.0/prefs//maya.rayhosts
// Info: (mental ray) : adding rayhosts
// Info: (mental ray) : adding host: 192.168.1.129
// Warning: (mental ray) : mental ray startup reported network errors, some render slaves may not be used //
// Info: (mental ray) : number of render thread(s): 2
// Info: (mental ray) : network rendering slaves: 192.168.1.129
and there are some parts missing in my final render (black boxes). in the output window I get the following:
mental ray: got 2 satellite CPUs.
LIB 0.0 info : mental ray for Maya - startup done
MSG 0.0 error 011329: mi-ray/tcp: not a service (check %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\services)
MSG 0.0 warn 012219: using fallback inet service 7003
MSG 0.0 info : adding new host 1 (192.168.1.129:7003)
JOB 0.0 info : started threads 0,1,2,3 on 192.168.1.129 now known as host 1
If I try to start again my ray.exe (closed it before doing the render job) it now tells me: MAIN .0 fatal: Sorry, no license available
I allready fixed most problems mentioned here in the forum (can't find shaders, port issues etc.) - but now I'm really stuck.
Any ideas?
