NEW RULE

* You have 45 , (count them 45 !) minutes to do your sketch.
IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing

Also, I will add a new voting category, called THE FASTEST DRAW

I'm back! And rather out of practice...

Photoshop, 45 mins. Then some stupid amount of time trying to get my colour settings fixed as this was a new install and my jpgs kept coming out very washed-out. This is as close as I could get it to the original.

(Also, huh? The insert image link doesn't work for me anymore, so let's hope I can do it by hand...)

I didn't time this one, but it's probably around the right time or less.

And I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I fussed with it for 15 more mins:

A little better, but not a success. Can anyone even figure out what it's supposed to be?

Parents with children on a futuristic hover-bike?
I'd say two mothers with two babies, riding a mountain goat? Going hella fast?

Hey, CocoKinght, that's right!

I saw this kiind of thing everywhere in India, parents with a bunch of kids all on one motorcycle, going places. I tries making it a haverbike, because I knew I couldn.t come close to an accurate motorcycle in 45 mins.

I didn't think it looked enough like what it was to tell, though. I'm glad you could see it!

And CodeNothing... that collage is now neck-and-neck with danielh68's for my favorite.

paperclip: I like how smooth your colors look. I actually like your first one a bit more, just because the faces are in the same style in that one.
Vahn: The colors in yours are a little light if you want clarity for the subject, but as just a color sketch it looks cool.
trialanderror: Its good that you are getting faster with your painting. I would try using some of the brushes painter has that have sharper edges, if I remember correctly, when I used to use painter for sketching, I primarily used the biggest Sharp Charcoal Pencil and the Acrylic Wet Detail Brush, along with some Soft Vine Charcoal. It gave me the combination of hard and soft edges I liked.
Kalorlo: The colors look nice notheless, even if they weren't the way you wanted. I like your other one a lot more. It has a lot of attitude, even if (or because?) the subject is hard to figure out.
digital-bobert: Great as always, funny, and I like how the left treads are off the ground. Its a small touch that makes the scene more dynamic.
elnady: Yours is cool, I think it could benefit by making the schoolbus stand out more. Maybe by making it sharper or using darker shadow values? That would help break the line between the bus and sky.
Wiggin: You know, we'll all be raod-tripping in space cars by 2010!
Zyrinx: First of all, the physics here is all off! The astronaut wouldn't be foating in mid-space. How could the gas in the car's engine burn with no air? And is that flag I see blowing in the moon breeze?
Lokiwolf: Mmmmm....beer
danielh68: You've got some great textures on those rocks to the left. I need to make some brushes like your's! This is a great one.
billcunningham: I like the first more. The second looks too grainy and oversaturated for my taste. And I'm going to stick with the hella fast mountain goat theory, just because it makes me smile. Sorry if that's not what you wanted it to be.
Dimmur: Thats a really tight turn if the bus is going as fast as the speed-blur streaks would lead me to believe. I like the chaos. And the dialouge.
Overchord: This wins the award of the funniest of the day for me. His expression cracks me up! And the way he's just sitting there in his car, looking at the viewer. Maybe it's just me....
.avalon: I think it's cool that you posted here. I see you've posted some sketches in other areas, so just keep going at it. If you're just starting painting, I think you should try using a simpler proportioned canvas. This one is really long and skinny, and unless you are already and expert in composition, its almost impossible to make it look the way you want. Also, take what you want the focus to be, in this case probably the steakhouse(?) and move it closer to the center. The end of the road on the horizon also makes a good focus, so emphasizing that area will make it look better.
CodeNothing: This is a great combination of different elements. They all seem to come together nicely. My only problem with it: Why the hell are you bombing my home state!! Is this some king of personal attack? Or do you just have some problem with Michigan? Maybe in my next one I'll nuke California, that'll learn ya!

Thats all the artistic critiquing can take for now.

Thank you very much GSmiley!!! I really appreciate your observations. Im quite new in digital painting but enjoy it more and more and have decided to take some art classes in summer (Im studying art history at the moment). I dont know why I didnt start earlier with painting as its becoming a passion for me...

BTW I like all of your images as they show that you are a very experienced artist and have developped your very own style. Im far away from it but I hope to improve a little bit...

keep posting please

Wow. I haven't posted anything sinced the wee early days of Daily Sketch. I'm gonna take another crack at it and try to be here at least a couple times a week.

Timed sketches are scary. Anyway, here's my 45min sketch. (PS & Tablet - must...go...faster!)

ROADTRIP!! I know this is cheating...I like to think of it as recycling...doing my bit for the environment...you know...recycled electrons and all that! :)

Since I missed the AV War, and haven't had time to sketch lately, this is a recycle from last year - and it seemed to fit! But I haven't seem some of these folks around lately. :(
