3DS Max and Maya both have prebuilt boned and rigged characters that you can drag onto an existing model, then animate. Does Cinema 4D have anything like this?

If not do you think this is something maxon will implement in a future release.

Good question. I've been hoping for something like that for a while too.

From the primitives menu you can add a "human figure" (more a basic figue that is used as a reference model) and when you make it editable, you should have a rigged and boned IK character.

Yes, if you make the basic stick figure man editable, you can use him, and he is rigged. But he is not a boned character, so if you are looking for a more human look with deformations, you are out of luck there. Hopefully this will change :-), R10 = Animation + Rendering = perfect, hopefully.

There's a plugin, not developed anymore since the author died (R.I.P. Klaus), but still good and useful which is Bonderland with biped, quadruped and centiped pre-constructed rigs.
You can find it here : Bonderland (http://www.seikworld.com/public/cinema4d/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=35427)
Cheers
