View Full Version : WIP Pool Skater
vaXn8d 03-24-2006, 08:24 PM Hey everyone, I thought I'd share a cool shot from an animation project my company has been working on. We're using 3ds max with VRay, and I did a little bit of touching up in Photoshop for this image (lens flare, halo over the sky). The project is nearly complete but is still being worked on, so all C&C's are welcome. Enjoy!

I'm putting this animation into the render queue for this weekend, so hopefully I'll get to post the animation once it's done.

The board looks good- and so does the environment- but the human figure isn't doing it for me. The skin texture isn't really textured- the clothing has the same flat color choices, and finally the model just seems like a manikin. Maybe when it’s moving it will not seem so much. My favorite part is the under belly of the board- nice trucks.
Good Luck with this- it looks like it is interestin and have an audience.

Thanks for the comments Craig. We were going for a semi-cartoony character, but I agree he is pretty mannequin-esque and it's something we're planning on changing. As for the clothes, do you think they look too new being a solid color? The shirt has some prints on it, but you can't see it from this angle. Maybe some noise would help? Thanks again on the response :)

I agree with your idea for the colors in the cloth- they look unreal due to a lack of noise. You could add a dust- dirt- sweat- layers- but even just a little less uniformity would help. I hope to see more later.
