Title: Phoenix II
Name: Katherine V. C. Wadey
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

2700 x 3600 x 300ppi
Photoshop 5

This was done entirely with layered "color to transparent" gradients. Constraints: As the phoenix rises out of the flames, it will transform from a plasma state to a solid avian form; at the same time the colors must imply the transition of fire and increasing heat from the ground flames to it's white-hot breast.

I'm still not too fond of the left wing/tail solution.

Actually, Tascha, one of the early plans for this was as silk embroidery down the back of a black, or dark blue, silk, dolman-sleeved, full length evening cloak; reminicent of an Erte piece. The bride, for whom it was a gift, is/was a costumer.

Anton, thesquid, thank you both.

I disagree with Kyena!!!

That would make a HOT tattoo KATHERINE!!! :twisted:but then again i don't like tattoos

At first i was lost... i looked for the head... but then i hit the borders of the left wings... ooohhh... there it was... on top... got to make another route... i like to follow the flow of the fire

you captured the Phoenix in between the fury of it's fire and the gentleness of it's expression and motion. :applause:

What a gorgeous picture. The colors and shapes are perfect. I suppose you might have a tad more space between the head/neck and wings, but that is just my cockeyed thought. I really don't think you should change anything.

Thank you very much, Sacha. I'm glad you like it. This is the kind of work I actually have the most fun doing. Sorry to be so late in replying, I didn't get a notice that anyone had posted to this thread.
