View Full Version : import gaming texture and model as my 3d geometry...

how could i do that? wht software do i need and, where is the location for those texture and model?

i do it for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE...

It depends on the game. With most games, you can't get a model or texture out of the game without doing some complex stuff with something like OpenGL extractor. With games like Half-Life 2, though, they have released SDKs that include the game's models, and should also probably include import/export tools so you can get them into Maya.

how about milkshake, i had heard that this software could do the extraction.

how about the half life 2? how could i extract the model and texture from this game?

For Half-Life 2, the SDK already includes the models. This website (http://mitglied.lycos.de/prallvamp/) shows you how to get the stuff into Maya.

actually i plan to import the warhammer 40k.

You always need to own a game to import the models. I don't believe Dawn of War allows you to take their models and textures from their game.
