View Full Version : How about a better pre-view-list

Last challange I sugested that we use a preview thumbnail gallery for the enterys. This was apritiated and implemented. BUT the whole point (as I saw it) was that the pictures in this list shuld not change over the course of the competition.
The whole point was to recognice the same pic whenever you viewed the list. If it´s updated every time someone does something I have a new picture to remember and there are almost 100 entrys! If everyone uppdates and modefies their thumbs... well you get the idea.
So another suggestion:
Let the thumbnails be STATIC. It shuld be the first scetch you submit that stays on the list until the end. You can get the uppdates by entering the threads anyway.
And another suggestion/question:
When shuld the thread be moved to the top? Is it when the owner of the thread makes an entry or uppdate or is it when anyone makes a comment? I sugest the first alternative, when any uppdate is made with new material. Does this matter?

My two rusty cents.:)

I would prefer a static thumb - but with a small text showing when the last update had been. This would help to see whether your favorite model (or whatever) has changed.

heh, most of the time my thumbnail IS static because I forget to update it! :p

I like Michael's suggestion, this makes the image easy to remember, but lets you know when the original poster has posted something new. However, I think it would be nice (if possible) to have it update automatically whenever the owner posts to his own thread. That way I wouldn't have to remember to do it (and forget half the time).

Maybe I'm just lazy. :D :D

I don't like this idea... mostly because even if I make a sketch before I start modelling, I don't have any way of scanning it in. A permanently blank thumbnail isn't the best way to interest people :(

Well... the thumb dosn´t have to be the scetch. (like I said in the beginning of the post, I´m sorry). It culd be your first rendering, screengrab or whatever.
All I want (humbly sugesting) is that the thumb (regardless of content) is static, that it is the same picture.
And I agree that a small text showing when the last update had been done is a good Idea, like MichaelHebel said.

I sugest a one line (or more) space where the thread owner writes what kind of uppdate it is, like:
New pose; new texture; new head; total makeover; more details; bla bla bla....

Ha? How bout it?
