If you didn't render the glass with the background already in the 3d environment you're going to need an extra step.

1) You're going to need to render out a displacement pass to distort and refract the background behind the lass a bit.
2) The darkness you're refering to is because you pre-multiplied in your render. There have been some problems with people not getting pre-multiply alpha to work. My recommendation, which will always work is to disable "pre-multiply alpha" in your rendering application when you render. It'll look like crap when it renders, but in combustion when you combine the alpha and diffuse render passes, everything should be peachy.

I would recommend however, when it comes to glass to just render the glass with the background, just because getting propper refraction in post can be a real bear sometimes.

Thnx a lot Mr.Thatoneguy, so you mean, if we want to composite a glass object to live action footage means we should take the footage to 3d package as background then render it for the appropriate result?

It would definitely help. You might want to render out a pass, with just the ice and one with just the distorted backgrounds. It would at the very least give you the flexibility you might want later. But if you want accurate refractions, I would highly recommend some how or anther rendering with live action plate loaded in as a background to the 3d scene.
