Title: Industrial Swimsuit Model
Name: Otto Van Koert
Country: Belgium
Software: LightWave 3D

This character is my "industrial swimsuit model". It is modeled after a 2d-image by Tariq Raheem that I liked. You can find the original work at

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?s=36b5219602230a407cba5df1245e0638&t=41474&highlight=tariq

I made some modifications to allow for more interesting animation options (open rib cage moves in an animation). It probably made the model weaker than the original design though. I also chose a more swimsuit-model-like pose.

The character is modeled and rendered in lightwave and I used some postprocessing (overlay layer and some glow). Modeling was done using subpatches (subdivision surfaces). For the stones I used a displacement map. Most textures are derived from photos I made, but some are hand-painted.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements, especially for the model, her pose and her expression.

PS: Let me know if anyone is interested in a higher resolution version or wireframe.

Nice modeling & render. Only remark is that head looks more "cartoony" then the rest of the render. :)

Very good robotic body - model, textures rendering is greate, pose to. I think face is little not so good (just my opinion)like body.
Generaly very nice image!
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I was just wondering. Is it mainly the hair or the face itself as well? I am struggling quite a bit to make decent hair (this one is made with polygons and transparency maps). I thought this would be an interesting hairstyle, but like you say, it makes the face anime/cartoony-like (I didn't notice it myself at first, but I have to agree that the face looks too cartoony).

By the way, she is not Liselotte Pulver (at least not intentionally), but I used various photographs of different people to model the face, so maybe that is the reason she looks a bit similar to some well-known people.
