Ok here's a dragon 4 legged walking cycle I've been working on. The dragon is 2830 polys. I've cut it down from 4500+. This is my first 4 legged walk cycle and I'm trying to figure out the correct rigging. I used horse walk cycles as reference.
My main problem is that the back leg is crunching...I started with a bi-ped and then edited it into a 4 legged critter, then added bones for wings and for the smaller parts on the head.

I'm using Max 5.0 with Character Studio 3.0. I'm new to the whole rigging thing, and I don't know what I need to do to correct this. Would bulge work?

Any help and C&C is greatly appreciated...I know the walk cycle is a bit odd...right now I just want the rig to work right.

Thanks again.

A bit hard to see the your actual bone-rig since bones dont show in the final animation ;) however, it seem like you've got a very short bone set up just where the joint is, as explained in my attached image.. if you indeed have a bone set up like that, remove it and the problem should be solved :) *peace*

Howdy,

It looks like you might need to use a morph angle deformer or just don't bend the leg that far. The other fellow may be correct as well. Since we didn't see your bone setup we really can't tell for sure.

Also, it may be that your envelopes aren't well blended around that joint. Hope that helps.
