View Full Version : Stock Footage / Compositing
tb582 03-24-2006, 02:23 AM Hi Guys, I want to shoot some video of me sitting in my car pretending to drive ie taking corners etc... then I want to use some stock footage preferably of a car chase and make it like that is what I'm driving it. By masking out the windshield windows etc... Does that make sense?
I don't have a lot of money to spend on stock footage but I did find these: http://www.artbeats.com/prod/product.php?pg=1&id=126 which maybe they can be slowed down to look more like a chase scene?
Let me know what you guys think.

you have a video camera. Why not make a homeade rig and attach it to your car and shoot some driving footage.

LOL seems like I good idea, but I wouldn't even know where to begin and if anything happened to my camera....
..but does the whole compositing thing sound feasible?

if you really want to be safe, just attach it inside your car and shoot out the window.
As for compositing, yea, that works fine. Most shots in films these days with any type of people talking or driving dangerously is all shot on a stage with a greenscreen. We then attach 2-3 cameras to a rig in front of a car pointing left, center, right, and stitch that together and use it to replace the background in the car shots.
I would go get a green sheet and string it up outside the window so you can key your head. Since this is your first time, maybe wear a hat or something or if you have short hair that would be good. Unless you really want to have a challenge with keying hair(not a big deal but can be hard with a dvcam).
