Title: Yacht - Fast Modeling Session
Name: Predrag Koncar
Country: Yugoslavia
Software: Maya, mental ray

This was really fast modeling session (from my design&concept to completely textured model - 18 hours). Modeled & textured in Maya, rendered in Mental Ray. Render time:8 minutes.
I know there are few issues, but still I kinda like it :)

Great work for the timeframe.

I think the render would look better with the boat travelling at top speed rather than stationary as it looks like a fast design.

Yap. You're right it would be logical to give it some speed, but I like to put some contrast on the scene, like fast things in a slow situation or small characters in a huuge scenery ...
You know, this way it gives me a feeling of a force that is about to be released... blabla :)

Thanks pRED, I'm glad You liked it!
It was a very tight deadline, so I'm glad there are no big flaws in render. :bounce:

Very nice, clean model and render, congrats! :)

The only thing I see is that the sea has a wave pattern that repeats distinctly.

Hi pixelmolester & blastzone! Thanx for comments. I guess it looks very shiny and glossy for my taste too, but when a client wants veery shiny, You give him very shiny :arteest:
Sometimes its hard to comply to client demands, but I guess it's just a matter of drawing a line, how far would You go :)

Well if we are talking about client wishes, then its fine to me..One should get what he is payed for .. thats professionalism. Unless you are ILM or something, and you make the rules of aecepptable quality.

Way to go man ;)

too true. the man with me money makes the rules. assides from the sea (i have had the same problem in the past). i needed to make a quickl backdrop to my ship and sea textures can look terrible if done in a hurry.

It's good that we have CG challenges. I definitely need to do something that is not strictly directed by the client, so I hope that I will find enough time to complete this one. Still thinking about the concept, but I will decide what to do in a few days. Thank You for Your comments!
