View Full Version : Concept: Tho Unrest
Hyptosis 12-21-2002, 08:07 PM http://www.lorestrome.com/images/tho.jpg
This character was an honerable knight who was slain by a lower ranking officer. The officer of course took his place after his death. His body was found by a group of necromancers, and he was resurected. This happened many years later and they did not expect him to have his previous life's memories. The story this is done for isn't finished, but it is still being worked on, hope to see it finished soon. I'm going to do several more images as well. I'll post them as I work. This is just a concept.

FLOw - I wish I was that good. I'd love to work for any game company. Any at all.
Stygian - Doing so now. =]
art7sayan - Thanks, I will do so as long as I can, hehe.
Points I failed to point out.
He is trying to hide he is a skeleton, the character is still trying to cope, and doesn't relize he doesn't need his bag and armor anymore, plus he does have some things in his bag form his family long ago. Also he doesn't smell, because the necromancers cleaned him well before bringing him too, so he is nothing but polished bone. I really should have mentioned that.
I tried to design most of his stuff to hide what he is, even though on his upper arm it does show, I just made a mistake. But a slap of chainmail could quickly remedy that.
I'we got the warcraft concept art book...I can tell you that this pic is much better than any Wc1 and Wc2 concept art, and has got the same quality as the Wc3 stuff

the shoulder plate isnt the best doh...sorry if im kicking you down from your high possitioned throne now ;) but I didn't find anything bad on the first pic. feels rather nasty to just say "oh thats so good, you are the best" hehe. Hope I helped somehow, im not any good at 2d/concept art myself, so maybe I shouldnt talk. Oh well :wavey:

well your line work seems a little hurried, you might want to slow down a little in the begining stages because your inking is pretty nice. I would do something about the cheesy ink spots...
A little more prespective might help too, you seem to break rules a lot which is ok, but unless done well it seems more like a mistake than something on purpose.
Those are the only crits i can offer, youre style is a lot of fun, I really think youve got something going here hyptosis, I can tell you enjoyed the drawings. Keep practising; the warcraft concept art book is excellent because you can see that often its the same artists from game to game, and you can see how drastically they improve over the years.
Keep at it buddy!

hehe, man, I've no self esteem, so there is no pride to damage. everything is easier form a profile, plus I was trying to make the skull look like he was looking down on you. In any event, thanks for the feedback guys.

er, ink spots or cheesy? Destroying them as we speak.
I drew a lot of skull-headed warriors in high school, and they all sucked so I never kept any, but once I got into drawing from photo refs, I had a bit of a relapse when I found this in a National Geographic.

I like your concept - and I *just* got home from watching The Lord of the Rings, so I'm a little excited about fantasy art again.
Maybe my drawing will help you work out the skull problems in the lower pic. My favourite thing about the look of skulls is how they seem to smile, because there are no cheeks to hide the molars in the back of the jaw, which angle up towards the cranium.
Keep it up.

I'm not sure if you've seen the pic before, or if it influenced to, but your picture reminds me of this Joe Maduiera concept for a game that got canned (I think)...

This golem looking is pretty nice. Though the eyes does not really fit very well (they do not look very 'stonish').

It is a bug species. The 'stone' is exoskeleton.

Anyone remeber a PSone game named Mideval? Never did play it, but the concept, from my limited knowledge of it, reminds me of the game.
