View Full Version : Santa's new ride
Well I think I finally have something that's worth posting here, rather unexpectedly too.
I vow to never buy a Hallmark card - something handmade is much more personal and appreciated. This one is for my little cousin...
It's reminiscent of Kirt's Above and Beyond 2d challenge entry - and if you remember my crappy Beast of Burden 2d entry, you'll see it's a big improvement. I'd consider this my first good digital painting.

Not bad! I think you should consider changing the color of the elves costumes, since they sort of blend in with the background.
Good job though:thumbsup:

lol, looks like santa had to chase that sucker down a few times, he done lost some weight! i can digg it. :buttrock:
I agree with the elves vs. trees. I'm sticking with the green elves though - I think I'll strategically place some snow on the trees to get the contrast.
Santa *is* looking a little trim, the image ref I used was a regular rider. I tried to add a gut to him, but it doesn't really give him any convincing heft.
Thanks for the comments.
<edit> I found the Christmas Card thread in the Finished Works gallery - figured that's an appropriate place for this piece, which I've fixed up a bit -
