If you could post an image of the look you're talking about maybe we could help.

Its very simple, I want to be able to see the wireframe but not have the object appear as see trough. You can see it in the joan of arc tut http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/sword1.asp
I'm guessing it's very easy...I just can't find it:(

There are ways... Mostly it's just a cloned mesh with a push modifier. If you want to be sophisticated about it you can use edgemap from snotmonster (http://www.snotmonster.com/) .

Most of them do. I've had some problems with some digimation plugins (illustrate I believe), but most of them work.

You could also just render a preview...

Thanks Hellrender that was exactly what I wanted....It's just for modelling purposes so I don't need any fancy plug in...yet:)

Hi Dethbard,
You have obviosly solved your problem, but here's just another tip: Right click on the selected object>Properties>Display properties>Edges only (off) and you have all the mesh, the invisible edges as well. Then throgh F3;F4, you can manage the shading.
