I think there is two questions i have to ask...first im trying to export a video that is about 57 min long. when i export it as a .mov im using sorenson compression. when the file is about to be done rendering (im talkin about seconds before its done) it gives me an error. it tells me "this is not a video format" and it tells me the same thing when i try to play it. ive never had this problem before, im stumped.

Ok so thats my first question...my second question is when i do get to finish rendering its gonna be around the same size (im assuming)...so when i have it done how do i go about burning it? im used to exporting a gig or so and just burning it on a mac, but since this file is over 22 gigs long (after sorenson compressino) i have no way of burning it. what do you recommend doing in this situation?...would appreciate any help here, thnx!!!

I cant answer your question, but can relate and am awaiting anyone to shed light. I also tried to output a 50min clip in a few dif formats. All rendered fine until it needed to be compiled at the end and it came up with an error. Its not a space issue for me either.

Try to render parts of your video as uncompressed QTs, line them up in the timeline and render with compression.
I would use WinRAR or StuffIt to split it up in multiple archieves.

If your drive is formatted as NTFS you can create a large file. FAT32 is limited to 4gb. I rendered the roughcut of my short to an uncompressed .mov -- it was about 118gb. Then I used sorenson squeeze to make compressed versions.

Im in NTFS. Still have the prob with rendering 1 large file... Dont know what the deal is but I think rendering sections is the answer... Not sure about rendering them all together after.

Rendered the smaller sections together last night uncompressed, since it will be added to later on. "An Unknown Error Occured" while Premiere was finalizing the mov. I dont get this at all. Everything is set up fine. I have tons of storage space on my hd.... It doesnt make sense.

Why do you want a mov file? Why dont you try exportit to mpeg2? If you can put 4 hours of of video footage on 1 dvd-9 (8.4gig or whatever it is?), im sure you could easily get 57 minutes down to 2-3 gig or so

Try uncompressed avi instead unless you have to make quicktime.

Ill give it a try this weekend. THis is footage that will be put back onto dvd at tv res with a few other clips. Its not the best of quality, so I dont think a bit of compression will hurt much. I just dont understand why Im getting these errors to begine with. Last night I even tried to output straight to dvd, and when it was 3/4 done, same error. This was with a few different output combinations, so I dont understand. THanks for the feedback though. Ill give it a go.

FINALLY! Turned off auto-save. Output a 50min avi, no problems. Apparently it interferes as the video is exporting/compiling.
