Title: The Gathering 2
Name: Neil Blevins
Country: USA
Software: 3ds max, Brazil r/s, Darktree, Photoshop
This originally started as one of my Reaper series, but in the end I felt it looked better with a few Reapers in there, and so it was renamed to be part of my Gathering series. Wires using my wirebundler script, the model is half power solids, half subdivs, tons and tons of postprocess work in photoshop. Rendered in Brazil.

Excellent work, Mr. Blevins. The illustrative, painting quality and misty mood add an ominous quality to the image. It's good to see the wires are back.
I'm always hesitant to post on your images because I can never find anything to critique, so you'll just have to accept praise for this one.
Thanks for sharing,

Beautifull job. Great atmosphere. Maybe a lilttle more metal sense would helped. Great job anyway. Congrats.
hello neil,
great work . Again, excellent use of splines. But is a more easy feel with the splines. Calm or silent splines :) I would put it as, when compared to alternate_bith and light-to-darkness.
Some great scripts on the website. Thanks for such great scripts. Aligner is great.
Once, again Great Work :buttrock:

Thanks for your comments all. Glad you liked it.

Ya, I debated that a bit. In such a foggy environment, you don't have as much contrast to the reflections, and I was afraid if I pushed the metal look too far he wouldn't look integrated with his surroundings. But maybe I should have pushed it a bit further, thanks for the critique.

There's definately less action going on in this image, I wanted the creatures to feel like they slid silently from the fog. Sounds like that came across. :)

Very nice work Neil. I love the concept and the atmosphere.
Very nice work Neil. I like the mood and the colors.
I didn't know what I was looking at until I read your description. The face (?) reminds me of one of my t-squares. :)

Thanks to everyone for your support! Ekah, I can see what you mean about the tsquare, actually, some people saw the chest area to be the face (because of the two cylinders which could be considered eyes), which is why I made the actual eye yellow, a different color than the rest to attract your eye to that spot. It's funny how the human brain tries to find faces in more abstract form. :)

Okay, I guess I, too, was referring to the "chest" then. :) However, when I hadn't read your description (Reaper), I thought it was a giant structure of some sort - like a refeuling station or an open, oval pod that's calling ships to come home... It was only by association with the word Reaper that I began looking for some semblance of "reaper" characteristics. It's hard to unlearn what one knows. :)
