View Full Version : Are there any REALLY GOOD painting tutorials? (more specific in post)
dave247 03-23-2006, 01:14 PM im looking for some tutorials that show the painting process very well... for example, I have seen some works on here that are so unbelievably good, such as that one "wake up mode" where the girl is holding a control and there is a huge robot who just sat up in a ware house with smoke billowing out of it's head... anyway, I have inspected such paintings and have found no hint of brush strokes...its just like a bloody photograph, only it looks like it was painted.. you know what I mean?
Anyway, I just want to indentify the methods used (generally with photoshop & a wacom) for achieving such quality results.

There's a thread in the Artisitc Anatomy & Figurative Arts forum with tons of tutorials.

There are a few good digital painting tutorials there.
To get a smooth, photo like realism in photoshop painting, low opacity settings on a round hard brush seems to work very well. You need to set your pic at at least 300 DPI as well. The bigger the better.
