More about the movie:

It's a silent movie, no talking here... only: Hum.. Oh.. Grr... wouf!

The movie is done in Maya and the composition in Combustion.

The team is almost complete and we really have a kick ass team so far! We are looking to get more people involved.

You want to joined the team feel free to give us and extra hand!

Movie status:

The storyboard: completed
The animatic: almost complete
The modeling just started
R&D: always in process!

What else can I say beside, the project is really cool and we already have plenty of fun working on it! and yes, the film will be rendered 1080p. We intend to enter the film to as many festivals worldwide as possible.

Cheers!

The film will have a very cartoony style. Here's an example of the police car we created for the movie. There's no texture, it's not complete and it's still in low rez but it's gonna give you a little idea of the style.

your concept sketches look humourous and very well done. Are you keeping a paint fx look like you have on the sketches?...will be very interested to see your texture style :bounce:

Hey!

softdistortion: Yes we intend to keep a paint look fx on the movie but without being toonshade. THere's a lot more to give a nice 2D look than just pushing a button!! :D We are still doing R&D on this to find the perfect look. We are close to what we want, but I guess there's still a few more weeks of work ahead of us on ''finalising'' the look.

BOY1DA: Game plan... always important to have one! THanks for the crits.

Kid-Mesh: Thanks for the early pixar-ish crits! It's always feels good! We'll keep this thread updated for sure. We'll post our developments as far the production goes and show you where we are, without showing too much of course (I guess we're being superstitious, or old since we're all around 30 or so:rolleyes:)!

comical-loser: Feel free to PM if you want to join the team!

That's about it for now, I'll try to post a few pages from the board later today.

Cheers and thanks again for the crits.

Our influence... Ish... the 200$ question. It's pretty hard to say actually since Vermette the co-director (and so much more) on the project and I both have a non-cg background. Vermette comes for the 2D world. He's a hell of a storyboarder here in Montreal and he's also a "bédéiste" a comics creator. So he's influence his coming from this world since he's working in that field for about 10 years now. For my part, I'm a script-writer and live action director. So my influence is mostly live action, any good story or books and my childhood cartoon. I must say one of my all time favorites movie is "Le roi et l'oiseau (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079820/)" a french 2d movie and it really kick ass! I'm also inspired (and Vermette as well) by the NFB of Canada, which produced Ryan last year.

Recently I must admit I'm really impressed by anything that come out of the french school Les Gobelins. Man they're 10 years younger than me and the blow my mind each year!

We both felt in CG by accident a few years ago and trust me you are stuck with us now!

Cheers!

Ha!! Summer!!!

With all the sun outside, the production took a little slower pace, but we are still working really hard on the project.

The modelling is going well, the R&D too, even the music is coming along!

We just need a few rainy days to be more productive!

I'll post some progress jpg soon...

Hi, my name is Juanmi, now I'm living in A Coruña, Spain, and nowadays I'm working as character animator in a a film (Holy Night!), I've been working as character animator in some TV Series.

I think your short film characters are really nice, I love them :D
I'd like to collaborate with you in animation, testing characters setup or animating some shots if you want that...

Online only have my first work in 3d, "La Opresion", a shortfilm made as final project in an animation master (2004) : http://www.3dpoder.com/laopresion3d (you will be able to watch it at school website: www.maisca.com , in section "galeria")

Best of luck!
