View Full Version : SLA: color vs bump problem
brammelo 12-21-2002, 12:07 PM Hi guys,
The following works perfectly in the color channel:
distorting a tile pattern two times (distort > distort > tile)
when I copy-paste the shader to the bump channel, it renders out as tiles-only. Why isn't he accepting the distortion? I seem to recall others ran into similar problems before, but a search didn't result into something usefull. I did activate texture anti-aliasing, so that's not the problem
Anyone?
Cheers,
BaRa

Oh yeah,
I'm using R8 early bird 8.001 on win 2000 single processor - in case it matters.

hmm... might be a problem with the early bird... i just did the same with two distorts (default settings with bhodinut 3d noise as the distortion and default bhodinut tiles) and it seems to work for me :/ maybe if you can post an example scene to test?

hi P-A,
I uploaded the file to the following URL:

I hope it helps. Thanks for trying to help me out :-)

hmm.. you're right! i think this may be a bug then. very strange, the tiles appear to not get distorted at all (in the bump). If i were you i'd post this a a bug over at the maxon support page. that's really weird... obviously i didn't look closely enough at teh bump on my own test to see this *doh* sorry.
what i can suggest is rendering out a frame of this texture in the luminance channel only, then using that render in the bump channel (or using baker to render it out from the luminance channel.
sorry i can't give you good news on that. :/

Thanks P-A,
At least now I know I am not hallucinating (or however you spell this). Whether this means I'm sane is a totally different topic ;-)
I just tested it in version 7 - it works like a charm. However, when I open the V7 file in R8, I get the not-correctly-messed-up tiles again. Smells like a bug indeed. Maxon: get ready for a bug report!
Cheers,
BaRa
