Any of you guys watched this Cailler Chocolate commercial ??

R&D department of the project, made a mel script for cg objects to be filled with cubes..
Voxels..3dsmax had a (Voxels) and (Voxels Generator), to do that job. But not animatable..
Here is my question, how can i write such script for maya. Any opinions or examples..will much appreciated..thank you.

I actually worked on a similar script. Mine simply fills in objects with cubes and snaps them to a grid arrangment. I was going for an effect similar to pixel art in 3d. Also it rebuilds the structure every frame allowing you to animate the effect on a moving object such as a character. It also checks distance of cubes to the surface and creates expression driven ramps for both the color and transperancy channels of the shaders connected to the boxes allowing you simulate an effect similar to anti aliasing or just volume. Here is a couple of links to a few renders I did. i dont have any animations viewable yet though. If you are still interested I could give you a hand on your script.
