View Full Version : Taj Mahal Environment - WIP
RyanKnopp 03-23-2006, 06:32 AM Hello. I just thought I post a project I've been working on for school. It is an environment of the Taj Mahal which will more than likely end up being sort of a visualization. I will talk more about that later. The modeling is near completion. Anything you notice missing will be added at some time. The texturing obviously is still being worked out. The textures are about 95% painted by myself. Obviously the shader needs work and I haven't added a bump or specular map at this point. So any critiques or compliments are welcome and encouraged. Thanks!!

Looking good. No critiques for now. Nice textures on the towers!
Keep it coming. :)

Thank you for your comments! I'm sort of using this project to work on my texturing skills. More updates will come soon. :D

Hi, where did you take your textures from? I have a taj-mahal project myself for a web page and haven't found the images i need..

Well, all of the marble is hand painted in Photoshop by me. I also recreated the artwork above the doorways. Most of my reference came from Google Images. There are several high resolution images on there. Probably not well-suited to use for texturing, but it should give you an idea of what you'll need. I painted mine myself because I couldn't find any marble that would be appropriate and it was good practice. Good luck! :buttrock:

Great start Ryan! I would love to see some closeups of certain sections to see if you have the appropriate amount of detail (like the top of the towers, which from here look great). I love how you mentioned 'compliments' hehehe :) As well, I can't wait to see how you composite this into a scene. You'll need a massive resolution image to hold it together or paint a matte I guess. I think you should try the mib_cie_d in a directional light for color and try a temperature of 5000 (midday and sunny). I think you'll be shocked by the results! Nice work and keep going!

Here's my latest progress. Texturing/Unwrapping is pretty much done. A few minor tweaks left. I still need to work on bump maps, spec maps, shaders, lighting, etc. Things are getting done...just not as soon as I'd like. :)

Forgive me, but I'm not exactly sure if this link was just information for me or to point out an obviously critical flaw in my model. If it is informational I greatly appreciate it. However, if you are pointing out a flaw could you please elaborate? I definately want accuracy in this model. Some flaws may not be apparent to me as they are to other people. Thanks!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I've been reading a lot about it as I'm researching and gathering reference.
