Is there a clean technique on getting values from the fluidShape's Color, Incandescence, and Opacity Attributes?

If I create a ramp from red to blue to yellow in my color attributes (shading folder), my multiInstances are numbered as they are created. What happens when I remove a few? Maya doesn't resize the array. I noticed that the Opacity graph resizes the array.

Any tips? I'm trying to encapsulate a few controls and want to be able to know the number of instances in these arrays.
