View Full Version : .obj / .mtl problem
LemonNado 03-22-2006, 11:03 PM Textures defined in the .mtl file for a .obj file are not being entered as textures.
When I import/open a .obj file then all the materials/groups are being generated as they are listed in the .mtl file but the textures are not loaded into them. Is there a way to do this? Currently I am loading the .obj. Then I open the .mtl in an editor and manually fill in the texture filename in the already defined material slot. This is really tedious. I looked in the presets but can't find a setting anywhere which deals with that.
Any hints?
Cheers

you should probably check out the plug-in Riptide which is a much more feature rich .obj import than the built in Cinema version.

Thanks! Works like a charm. Phewwww. Made my day. XSI V5's .obj import is completely broken, so I use my BodyPaint to transport it into FBX and then into XSI.... Time to get C4D....
Thanks again for the hint!

Riptide has just reached a new level, now being able to work with n-gons.

Unfortunately the latest version of Riptide crashes during .obj export with my BodyPaint 2.5. The previous version works like a charm. I don't own C4D 'yet' so I don't know if the .obj export has a problem there. I guess it's a BodyPaint 2.5 related issue. In any case, I am soooooo glad it works with BP at all as it's a life saver right now.

PS:FBX import into XSI also does not work. But the re-exported .obj from BodyPaint can be read by XSI without crashing. Go figure.... crazy 3d world...

I just found and fixed 2 bugs in the 1.2 version... could you go download the update and try again and let me know if you still have problems?
Thanks,
