I'll never forget calling Newtek a couple of years ago to activate LW 6. According to their voicemail, the easter bunny had taken the building hostage.

2004 or 1999?
Those are the only (recent) years with a Monday on the 20th.
;)
Happy Holidays!!! Enjoy the time off, Proton. We want you back fresh!

I guess that means no Lightwave 7.5b under the Christmas tree. Lets roast Chuck over an open fire for lying, now! :shame:

We just released 7.5 in April, and will be releasing the Linux render node this quarter as previously announced. One might reasonably expect a maintenance upgrade within a few months of a major point revision, but would also expect that substantially more time would pass before another major release would come along.
Obviously, "this quarter" would mean before 2003.
Isn't the Linux render node supposed to come with the 7.5b update?
Heck, they still got a week+.

He only mentioned the Linux renderer -- not 7.5b, if that's what it's called.
I would imagine that's a separate thing.
Gotta love how Newtek plays dumb. :-)

Need more practice, don't I.

Backpedaling, or just political parsing? :)

How is it backpedaling?
We just released 7.5 in April, and will be releasing the Linux render node this quarter as previously announced.
He only really mentioned the Linux renderer.
Or am I totally off base?
Here's the thing -- no matter what is said, or was said, the software will be released when it's ready for release. I would be rather shocked if someone actually said, "Release it regardless of bugs - just release it!!" I could expound on details as I am, afterall, the Coordinator of such things -- and I do know certain bugs that delay software release as I'm dealing with that very subject.
Trust me when I say this. We are listening, and really trying to avoid the promise of release dates, because it's just so darn hard to accurately predict something that can change with just one click of a mouse or a fix of a formula. You fix one thing and break two others.
I don't really want this thread to turn into a fingerpointing, or hesaid/shesaid type of discussion on releases of updates or upgrades. We're working hard, and trying to get everything ironed out. The linux thing was a particular strangeness, as I'm not Linux savvy.
Ok? So, go make something pretty and have a safe holiday this year. Good enough?
I don't really care, I was just teasing you dude. You're the one with the mystery response...
...not 7.5b, if that's what it's called.
I completely understand about being hesitant to give release dates, but Newtek would hardly be the first company to have to change one.
You asked if 7.5b was promised for Christmas and I provided the statement I thought implied it would be available by 2003. Simple as that.
Merry Christmas! :wavey:

Thanks CMan -- I understand.
However, it might be called 7.6, or something. I never know -- I'm not the one who makes that decision.
Happiness all around.
Here's hoping to a very Happy Holiday season.

http://forums.newtek.com/discus/messages/2/35914.html?1040359164#POST134834
On the 19th I corrected your rumor posting by saying that that there was no update completed and ready to ship at this time. I also said that the Linux renderer, the only thing we have actually announced for this quarter, would not in fact ship per the estimate, but was still in test at this time. You also responded to those messages on the 19th,
http://forums.newtek.com/discus/messages/2/35914.html?1040359164#POST137187
but here you are on the 20th on CGTalk posting that I should be roasted for something which you most certainly in fact know that I never said, and regarding which my only comment has been to contradict the misinformation you posted.
You certainly have a unique perspective on things.
Whew! Sure is getting warm around here... :wip:

Well, like I said: I was only posting this question to verify Bob Hood's statement of Lightwave 7.5b being done, as well as LScript 2.6. Now that I see it is not done, I'm not asking anymore.
