i have made a piece of 3d artwork and i tried to light the piece so the "sun" in the middle throws out shadows onto the inside of the sphere. when i came to render it, it just came up with blank screen after 8 seconds.
i am posting a link ot what i have done and i would realy apreciate it if someone could tell me what i have done wrong here and also how to make the actual sun invisible.

You have done nothing wrong, the sun lamp is working just as it should. :)

The problem is that the Sun lamp is just a representation of the direction and the angle that the sun light is coming from. So if you place the sun lamp inside or outside the sphere it will have not have bearing on the final result. Look at it this way you have your object inside the sphere the sun is shinning outside, the sphere is blocking the light from falling on the object inside the sphere. I suggest you change the light from a sun to a lamp and make sure the "only shadow" button is not selected.
