Hi there, I've been learning maya since the end of january and now onto Zbrush. Took me a month to grasp lowpoly modelling and created the hoofed one below[see video]. That’s exactly how it was in the book but you can see the topology is messy and un-uniformed. Anyway I set upon learning zform with a digital-tutorial video called “Maya and Zbrush integration” It used a process called SMOOTH PROXY which created a cage round a blob and then added faces to the cage which automatically subdivided the surfaces and I made the resident evil lookin model in the matter of hours in a day!! Start to finish. Which looks neat and is under 4500 tri’s.

What are the pro and cons? And why isn’t everyone using this method seein how easy it is to block a model in?

I only have 1 other question! I understand uv mapping transfer and that zbrush can only take quads and not any surfaces with more than 4 sides so it advices the student to apply 1 smooth to the model before takin it into zbrush which fixes this but to 17912 tri’s once you high res and get a normal map from zform can I apply this back to my 4500tri model in maya and get the same definition results?

thanks
