in the 4.5 help files they say to map the incadescence value of the ramp shader to black with -1 value...this will in turn create the outlines for the toon shader that i want.


i follow the directions...but i dont get any results...am i or they missing a step?

for making a toon shader with a complex setup in 4.0...but i thought the ramp shader in 4.5 would help skip all of this

Mono have you not finisehd the one that all of us started working on back in April? *Tisk Tisk* Just kidding, I could not reproduce that thing if my life depended on it

lol.. you know just as well as i do that i couldn't code that thing again if my life depended on it.

anyways... it had some really big flaws that were cheesing me off... you had to manually controll all colors and highlights... nothing could be dynamiclly assigned...

in max.. they've got a toon material.. slap it on there.. and it will pick up colors/highlites from the surrounding enviroment/lights.. blah blah blah..

that link i gave him goes to a toon shader that works more like that.
