So on a recent project I did a set of texture maps for an airplane that I'm pretty pleased with. I applied them as camera projections which, due to the exact shape of the plane, caused minimal distortion. Unfortunately I now have a set of problems.
First off if I change the position of the plane or try to export it to another scene I lose all of my texture placement info unless I take the cameras with me. Worse still if I try to set my render resolution to anything but a 1:1 square my texture squashes.
My geometry is all polygons. I'm basically not concerned about editing my UV maps but I would like a quick way to convert my projected textures to UV mapped textures to avoid this squashing problem. Does anybody know of a simple workflow for generating one? (or several). I don't care if the maps come out ugly so long as they look the same.
While I'm at it is there something I can do about the squashing without converting to a UV mapped texture.
Thanks in advance
