Seems to. I just signed up for it yesterday. Think about it: Max 5 came out soon after max 4.2, think of the upgrade cost. Now look at the subscription cost. You are pretty much guaranteed a max 6 in 2003, and so forth, plus the added subscription extras you get, so it's good value in my opinion.

Would you get access to all of the e-courses modules or just a small selection?

As far as I've seen, the e-modules so far only cover max 5 familiarisation.

Actually, would probably expect Max 6 sometime in early 2004. It seems like discreet always releases on an 18 month schedule. But still, if you know you're upgrading to Max 6 now, then you'll come out probably a little better than even --or if they do push max out within the next year, you'll come out really well.

I've only got 12 days to decide.....arrrgghhh....

Discreet's already mentioned that certain new technologies will find their way into MAX via subscription. So the subscription sounds like a good idea to me.

the fact that their really trying to get everyone on board within the next couple of weeks really makes me wonder about subs...

its nice you get design extensions and all, but theres quite a few people who have got stitched by the scheduling of releases and have got precisely nothing for them unless they continued all the way into a new release period, then they saved about $75 on an upgrade price which is less than i get as a discount from my dealer....its ok if you pay full wack for max's upgrades, if you dont i just wouldnt bother

Does anyone know how discreet is going to do the point release thing? Assuming there would be a point release. Will it be available to subscribers only, or would you be able to buy it --or I guess it could be at no charge, like 4.1, 4.2 were.

That'st the question I can't get anyone to answer; even my distributor was unable to give me a clear answer.

Thanks,
Mahlon

A bigger question would be, why would they not give out point releases. The subscription program is really just the VIP program (but with some actual use aside from cheap upgrades) and in the past they did not limit point-releases to them, so why would they do so now?

Yeah, I would think that would be the same as in the past, too. Point releases would have to be available outside the subscription program. It's just that I never have been able to get an answer on it, even on the discreet forums. Maybe it's obvious, that's why.... Just wanted to know for sure, that they didn't switcheroo.
