View Full Version : Xfrog Plants on Sale
iloco 03-21-2006, 09:21 PM Xfrog plants are now on sale till the last of April.
For those of you who want nice looking plants now is the time to check it out.
Daz3d and Renderosity both have them on sale for $104.00 Per DVD's.
I already had a bunch of the Plants but did order the Bonsia and Shrubs Dvd's.
I see a lot asking for Desert plants. Check out the SouthWest plants by Xfrog and see if any of those can be used for your Desert needs. :)
There are 60 plants per DVD so that makes them about $1.85 a piece. Not bad for some really nice vegetation. :)
All the plants come in vob, xfr, 3ds, c4d and many other formats to just name a few. :)

Thanx for the info on this. :)
The main issue with the desert plants, isn't that there aren't any available or anything,
it's that there aren't any "Vue" formatted plants, meaning they can be changed with
every plant that gets created in an Eco System with reguards to their shape an form.
Static plants are great if you intend to use them a little bit in a scene as
you can rotate them around a little, but they won't change from
plant to plant and then that makes them all look the same.
I've been in contact with someone from Cornucopia who is going to try and
help get at least some of these plants made, and hopefully some of the cactii too :)
But, these sound like they could work if people want nice static plants.
So, bringing this up to everyone is still a good thing :)
For me, I'm trying to learn how (if it's possible, that is) to see if I
can recreate the some of the already made Vue plants into desert plants.
But some of the desert plants just can't be modified by simply changing the
Image Maps to them and need to have some real polygonal level changes made to them.
Anyway, thanx for that heads up on the xFrog plant deals :0

A person could always get Xfrog Lite and rework the plants to his or hers needs and then import them into Vue.
Xfrog had a sale on Xfrog Lite and the Basic package of plants came with it. Might want to check that option out.
With Xfrog Lite you could then make your own plants from scratch and then rework them as need be. :)

Yeah, I actually have been playin around with the demo on and off for the past week.
At first, I didn't like the interface at all, but once I got past that, then everything
was fine and now I can create any plant I want to with it from scratch even :)
But, like I say, it isn't a matter of importing them into Vue or anything
like that, it's that static plants don't change from plant to plant in Vue.
And that's what I'm looking for, is "change" in the shape and form,
randomly from plant to plant so that no two plants are the same.
I do like xFrog though and may get it later when I get some more money in.
Right now I have more pressing software needs that I have to worry about.
UV Unwrapping and painting on 3D objects in real time, like Body Paint type of apps.
Also, I'm looking into Mesh Paint 3D.
Oh, and Poser may be a viable app for creating some plants too,
(and I have that program already) but again, those plants would be static.
