Just a quick sketch on a concept I had. My idea is that humans lived on mars before earth, however the planet was dying. The atmosphere was thinning, the temperatures were getting more extreme, and all the water was seeping away through giant cracks in the surface of the planets. Humans, knowing they would have to leave, looked upon earth as their destination. The girl in the corner is looking at some kind of magnifying "panel" and looking directly at earth while some ships embark on the journey. Everyone knows that life will have to be started all over again, and probably in a much more crude way. The journey begins.
I want to have small details like dying forests and farms to convey that the planet is in fact dying.
Thanks

this concept is a tricky one. what becomes of all their technology? why are there no buildings on mars? the answer is, of course, that we never lived on mars. at least, not on the surface.
but if this isn't mars, but a further planet that we haven't rediscovered... then you could put pyramids on it and giant easter island heads and stuff. you could do the star gate thing and make the ships look like pyramids or something. i don't know. really intruiging concept. i love the magnifying wacom tablet.
good luck,
~B
Thanks! Yeah I thought about those issues that you said, however I am really fascinated with mars and thought that this would hit a little closer to home (no pun intended).
Grrrr I want to start some coloring but I can't find my damned stylus for the life of me. I just moved and have been having a hell of a time finding everything. Damn damn damn!

ouch! how much would it cost for a replacement? then theres the shipping time...
looks real nice so far, strange concept, but very nice!
Thanks for the compliment! A replacement pen costs 70 USD. Way too much for me right now. I swear that I have seen it recently! Oh man this is killing me.

dang! ... i really hope you find it. the color is definately gonna be cool for such a concept.
Arrrrrggh! I can't find my damned stylus. Does anyone know where I can find a intuos 3 stylus for less than 70 freaking dollars? Thanks.
I'm so angry right now.
Well I finally broke down and ordered a stylus. Oh well, at least I'll be able to paint again.
I can't wait for it to get here.

Just testing out my stylus, thought I'd add some base colors to the painting.

the current colours are much better than the oversaturated blue. It's looks greatly surreal - I'm looking forward the final

I submitted this as the lineart milestone because I totally forgot to submit one. Anyway, still working out the landscape, trying to get it as surrealistically-real as possible. This is only my third or fourth digital paingting so it's coming along pretty slow, I'll definately be working on it til the bitter end. God knows when I'll get to the character and ships. I am really enjoying this challenge and will definately enter future ones. Please give me some c + c.
Thanks!

Yo E ,
I think this is coming along great! I would say just add some more contrast to the painting as a whole. Your value range is mostly all mid tones. Other than that I love the Idea behind it and look forward to more.
