View Full Version : Texturizing Paint Effects
Peace455 12-19-2002, 06:39 PM I have an outside forest environment, I'm about to make for a animation project, Ive never made trees
before (modeling . . . well not realistic trees) and I figured the best and quickest and effient rout would
be paint effects trees, that way I could get my forest scene setup up, in a few minutes (probably longer
on my slow PC), but I though those paint effect trees would seriouly deminish the semi realistic look I'm trying
to achieve, so my question is How can (if its possible) to texurize paint effect trees? so I can get a nice
color map, bump, spec etc?
thanks you sooo very much guys
thanks in advacen

Perhaps you could get help in the Maya forum
I'd love to help, but I really don't know the solution to your problem

Every paintfx brush can be texture mapped.

It's all in the Maya docs. Just hit F1.
In short, yes you can texture paintfx brushes. you can give them a colour map and a 'bump' map. The bump map just modulates the colour and spec, which looks fine as long as you don't get too close.

I found it! but am still stumped.
How to texturize, it wasn't in the help file, but I was lookin the
channel box and I saw a node called "treebare2" it had Color R,G,B Color 2 R,G,B,
Tansp 1 R-B-G Tranps 2 R-G-B etc.I opened the attribute editor and found
where all these attributes are located, and with a right click could create
any type of texture for the Paint Fx trees. The only bad thing is that there
is no bump channel, I check and double checked and saw bo Bump channel, which
stinks cause how can you have a decent looking tree if it doesn't even apprear
to be bumpy? I guess, Paint Fx, isn't the best way to go about making
a Forest...?
playmesumch00ns :
I didn't see the bump channel, I only saw color, spec, all but bump.I';m using 45, and I checked in the shading, then in the tube shading, then in texturing, is it called bump, or does it have a different name?
thanks for the help you guys. :D
Peace
M.
