I've been working on this robot for about a half a year on and off going through countless upgrades and changes. Here's the final. I'm finally satisfied and I'm moving on to another one. I made this in Cinema 7.

great job !
do you create the head first then the body ? or do you extrude the body out of the head? what is easier ? I created a head but now since the bottom of it is not flat, when I extrude to create the body, it is all way off, and when I drop it into hypernurbs, it is all rounded off way too much.. :(

Good question sebek, for robots I create every part in a seperate file then combine them periodically and manipulate them into the desired position.

that's brilliant
is it rigged? you done any anims?
EthanMartin

Well, you'll probably think it's a little less brilliant now because it's not rigged and there are no animations. I primarily create graphics for print but animation is something I'm interested in exploring some time down the road.

A lot of renderosity people here, i'm glad about it, by the way your bot model is probably the best you've made so far, keep up the good work, the lighting is simply superb :buttrock:

fantastic image and model! would love to see the little fellow moving! :D
it's funny that you created him in R7... with the color-scheme, he would fit perfectly into the R8-ads!

Too cool!! Very nice - I've been monitoring your evolution with this - I love the model. Render looks also very photoreal to me. Great stuff!

 Great looking robot. The time you spent on it shows!

It's so simplistic, yet I can't stop looking at it = )
Very efficient design, no crits here. However.. I'm curious about the personality you have planned for it. You're gonna animate it right? You better or I'll do it for you :scream:
So when are you gonna post some test animations?!?

I'll post animations in the summer when I have time to make em'. I'm soooo flooded with freelance work and in another few weeks, school, it's not even funny. Thanks for checking it out though Adrian.

That's really nice. I'm wondering, what did you use for the reflection and is the gi turned on for it?

What can one say??
It's just @#$@% great!!!
I love the lighting and would be very curious to hear how you did that - I love hikey lighting, but trying that, my scenes very often just seems to be overlit instead of still keeping the reflecs like on your white plastic - any tutorials planned with this as basis???
keep up the good work!!!!!!!

Caravaggio, I used a bhodinut fresnel shader in the reflection setting and rendered the scene with an hdri background with radiosity on. I suppose this would answer creart's first question as well. And to answer his second question, I'm not sure I know enough about the program yet to be creating any tutorials but I'd be happy to respond to any questions you have regarding my work.
