A have a scene with instanced nurbs stones. For some reason I would like to make their shape nodes unique. I mean get rid of the instances and have editable objects, not just transformed copies.

How do I do that??

export the scene to a maya file. voila

or just duplicate the objects. but be aware of incoming or outgoin connections of the originals

thanks. I just donīt understand how will exporting scene to maya file help. It seems like itīs the same as save the scene to another file...

duplicate method is not good for me, because there are about 200 stones already animated. So I would have to parent or pointConstraint stone to stone 200 times...

export it. it will destroy the instance thing. this is because the export doesn't include instancing

:) ok, I translated "Baz Raketak" from czech, but it was lightyear, youīre right!

Back to instances: I selected the stones, then Exported Selected to *.mb file. Opened it, but they were still instanced. Tell me exactly, how you do it.

you donīt have to try too much, I have already solved it another way. Iīve changed depth shadows into raytraced with little angle, and problem with shadow is gone.
But it can come in handy for future...
