View Full Version : Automating an animated photomosiac???

I have a client that would like several photomosiacs (1 large picture made up of several smaller ones, often seen in ads) animated.

I've done this effect in After Effects but he wants a 3d look.

His photomosaics are 6000x6000 resolution consisting of 30 rows x 30 rows. So there is 900 photos making up the mosaic.

I could go into Photoshop and start breaking out each of the 900 images and save them individually. Then go into Lightwave and make 900 different squares.

But it seems like this process could somehow be automated. I have no clue how this could be automated, but it seems like a candidate for automation.

Any ideas?

an idea could be to build a square, or a box, duplicate it with clone tool,to have right number of square where you can map complex images.
create an uv map to apply correctly the image
go in layout and use dynamic to animate with wind and hard body piece features.

any other way could be very painfull.
