View Full Version : render question- MR framebuffer
buttachunk 03-21-2006, 03:19 PM looking into purchasing XSI. just wondering about multiple passes... is there any method of seperating the passes in a render control panel, as in c4d ? or a batch renderer with similar functionality ? or is there a commercially available MR multipass shader (or other method) to extract the passes from the framebuffer ?

why not download the trial to find out?
XSI is great for separating passes yourself, or with v5 there's another option added to render separate passes automatically. It all depends on what you want, ans XSI is very flexible with this.
Oh, and all the options are in the passes and/or renderpanel.

Unfortunately XSI doesn't expose all of the buffers that MentalRay generates. I believe there are 4, maybe 5 available by default: shadow, reflection, diffuse etc...There are free shaders out there by Ctrl_Studio that enable all buffers to be rendered out.
