Wow very nice looking models. Their textures looked amasing!
The bears were cute, yet funny.
Animation was very clear and direct making all the animations look very nice!

Hi Matt,
A fantastic reel, but then that's no surprise.
I was wondering, do you use much reference for your animating, videoing yourself etc.?
Cheers

Hi guys
Thanks for the comments.
Blowtourch - Regarding reference i don't do much acting out around the office. I tend to run the audio over and over on my pc while staring at the character and imagine it performing different motions, then make some thumbnails. I might do a bit of acting out but this is usually done in the privacy of the bathroom.
Any thing i do outside the day job (the bears and the guy dancing at the end) is animated straight ahead. No planning. Its my fave way to work - Just sitting down and having a manic few hours letting it all flow. It doesn't always work animating this way but its the most fun i think.
Cheers

He he. Yup Straight ahead!! - its great fun to just start animating with no idea of where you'll end up.

.....man straight ahead is tricky, its so much easier and less stressfull to plan, BUT hey it worked for you...
good reel by the way...

Haha, I love supprise animation. Especially when there's a glitch on a curve or a constraint and you think "wait, this shit works!". Animating straight ahead is nasty, and you're crazy for liking it, but the results are awesome so who's complaining :)
Keep it up!

When working on a 'proper' job planning is essential and something i have to force myself to do.
Most of my personal bits and bobs start of with me making a simple shape in the pc and then freestyling from there. The Bears started of while listening to Ricky Gervais on the radio and i made a couple of spheres, linked em together and stuck some eyes and arms on. It was the quickest way to get what i was thinking onto the screen and it went from being an idea to an almost complete anim in a day.
The Bears existed as spheres with ears until MTV showed an interest in making a series and mattclark (http://matt-clark.co.uk/) got involved to give me a hand. He tweaked the face, gave em fur and did all that complicated rendering stuff.
Cheers
